Debanshu Bhaumik
Debanshu Bhaumik is a new-media artist and designer whose work merges technology with artistic expression. A graduate of the National Institute of Design in India, he has spent his career exploring what emerging technologies do to society. Much of it is in the design and technology behind exhibitions, art collections, archives, and museums; one of his exhibition designs won a Red Dot Award in 2020 and an Interaction Award in 2021.
His projects range widely, from Braille toys to immersive video to visual storytelling. Two I'd point to are "The Interpreters," about telling stories through technology, and "Farm to Fork," about how food is produced and consumed. Across all of it he is trying to start real conversations and push against conventional ideas of what art and design can do.
