Work
-
2025–now
Payments fintech
Software developer; Australia
My primary work right now, since 2025. I work on a payments platform that automates recurring billing and direct debit for businesses: subscriptions, bulk bank-account runs, card payments, and the API other software plugs into.
-
2024–now
University of the Sunshine Coast
Research assistant; Sunshine Coast, Australia
Research assistant with Dr. Elizabeth Chang on the Decarbon work: techno-economic modelling of how Australia might decarbonise its heavy transport, and what the numbers say about when the switch actually pays off. This is the line of work the 2026 Fractals paper came out of, and it is ongoing.
-
2008–now
Mathscapes
Founder and researcher; India
My own research studio, going since 2008. It is where the maths work lives: studying and designing algorithms, recreational mathematics, and tools that keep maths accessible rather than locked behind a degree. Most of what I make starts here.
-
2015–2026
M56
Co-founder; India
A design lab I started in 2015 with two good friends, Prakhar and Swati. We wanted to help people build digital interfaces across disciplines, but we never quite materialised what we had in our heads, and we closed it this year. We may well try it again somewhere down the line.
-
2024
Stealth startup
Software developer; United States
A short stint, about three months, building machine learning into insurance underwriting at an early-stage fintech.
-
2022–2023
Griffith University
Research assistant; Gold Coast, Australia
Research assistant to Dr. Zia Javanbakht, working on machine learning for engineering problems. This grew out of the auxetics paper and led into further study in ML.
-
2018–2022
Topcoder
Design copilot; Remote
Design copilot, working remotely. I helped run design competitions on the platform, shaping briefs and steering crowds of designers through them. I had competed there myself for years before that.
-
2017–2022
Srishti Manipal Institute
Faculty member and researcher; Bangalore, India
Faculty and researcher for five years. I headed the M.Des in Design Computation, ran the Experimental Maths Lab, and taught most of the courses listed below. Most of the teaching I am proud of happened here.
-
2016
Art in Transit / Srishti
Research assistant; Bangalore, India
Research assistant on Art in Transit, a public art and design project with the Bangalore Metro, under Abhiyan Humane and Arzu Mistry. A year spent on design out in public space rather than on a screen.
-
2008–2015
Independent designer
Freelance; Remote
Seven years working on my own, mostly through design competitions and client projects for companies around the world, among them IBM, Honeywell, Accenture and AstraZeneca. It paid for the experiments and taught me to ship.
-
2014
S.Labs
Research intern; India
A short research internship under Atul Saraf, and where my first paper, SnapTag, started taking shape.
