Sumit Meena
Sumit Meena is an industrial designer whose work runs the full span from concept to execution. Over more than seven years he's built up to a role as Assistant Professor at MITID, Pune, where he teaches Industrial and Interdisciplinary Design in a way that stays both rigorous and grounded in real practice.
He founded Vulcan Design Studio, where his mix of generative art and technology has drawn attention at home and abroad. He's also done industrial design consultancy with XYZ Designs and Chirmi Overseas and contributed to The Placet, always with an eye for solving the actual problem.
I had the good fortune to work with Sumit at Mathscapes in his early years, and I've watched him grow as a designer since. His work as an industrial designer at Studio Ubbens in France and his thesis project with Philips show how wide his exposure is. Between teaching, making, and consulting, he keeps chasing more design knowledge, and that's a good example for younger designers.
